Norma
has been painting for six years but in her heart she feels she has
been painting her whole life.
Her painting experience began with a ten-week watercolor course but
after taking a ten-week acrylic course with Ron Decker (who studied
under Robert Bateman), she realized that acrylics offered more
appeal. The defining moment however came when she took
workshops from Bev Hubley and Linda Powell, both working in oils.
Norma loved the vibrancy of oils and the way the paint responded to
her every brushstroke. Currently she is studying under Sandra
MacDonald, a wonderfully talented artist. Her dearest artist
friend Doris Horne continues to be a great inspiration. Norma
has also attended oil and acrylic workshops with Christopher Gorey,
Guenter Burr and Ken Spearing to name just a few.
Norma has won prize ribbons for her acrylic and oil paintings at the
Halifax County exhibition, 2006 to 2009. She also received “Best in
Show” 2006. She is a member of the Gallery Near and Far's
Working Group and also exhibits in
Gallery 215
in Selma, Hants County. In 2009 Norma won a first and second
placing in the spring East Hants Fine Art Show. Norma’s
paintings are in collections from Bermuda and the Middle East to
Texas.

Susan's style of
watercolours focuses on natural themes of flowers, sea
and sand and other peaceful subjects. "The
solitude of nature often felt but not put into words makes
me search for the universal spirit that challenges deeper
underlying currents of every day living."
